I’m curious. How many more years are the VA and VAC going to continue to fund “mental health” programs for veterans that don’t work? The latest official VA report says the Veteran suicide rate rose from 34.7 per 100,000 in 2022 to 35.2 per 100,000 in 2023. The rate has actually continued to increase. That means the risk per population ticked up even though the raw death count was basically flat.
This experiment has been going on for decades now.
“Support the troops! Get them the mental health support they deserve!”
If this were 2005, I’d be all in on that, but we have 20 years of data to show that this experiment isn’t working for GWOT veterans. They’re trying to solve the wrong problem.
The Problem
I’ve been beating my head against the wall for seven years now, trying to get politicians, veterans and anyone with a pulse to listen. Veterans aren’t killing themselves due to “mental health” issues; it’s physiological issues that are killing us. Until we accept that our hypothesis is wrong, more veterans will continue to die.
There are so many studies that show that exercise, healthy eating, psychedelics and a healthy community are infinitely better than talk therapy and psychotropic meds. Here’s a brief list:
Psychoactive drug ibogaine effectively treats traumatic brain injury in special ops military vets
The Global War on Terror is over, yet we still continue to run the same play to “help” our veterans. We need to address the underlying physiological issues that are destroying veterans’ lives, not just look at their mental health and scratch our heads as to why they’re still killing themselves.
The Deadly 3
I spent way too long in university getting my biochemistry degree. It didn’t take long for me to realize, post-deployment, that I was exposed to some things that would affect my biology: heavy metals, burn pit smoke, radiation, poo dust, contaminated food and MREs; did I miss any?
I have a lot of gnarly symptoms that just don’t want to go away from Afghanistan. My testosterone is chronically low, I have weird lypomas that pop up and my kidneys are doing weird shit. The data that we have from the U.S. is painting a horrific story, way worse than what I’m experiencing.
Here are my Deadly 3:

Take Action
Our veteran administrations can’t change course quickly. There’s too much bureaucracy and money propping up the old paradigm. That’s why I created a 10 minute mini course about this subject with a bunch of valuable resources, including a blood panel guide to know what to ask your doctor and video resources to provide more context on your journey to better health.
If this landed for you, I just released a 10-minute course called The Deadly 3.
Three hidden biological reasons most veterans stay stuck — no matter how hard they try. Toxic exposure, mTBI, and gut dysfunction. What they are, what they’re doing inside your body, and what to do about each one.
